Police have confirmed a murder investigation is under way after a man was found dead in a Dundee street.
A huge police presence remains on Lawton Road following the discovery at around 2.30am today.
A statement from Police Scotland says the emergency services were initially called following concerns for a 44-year-old man.
Upon their arrival the Scottish Ambulance Service and police officers, the man was pronounced dead.
Formal identification of the deceased is yet to be carried out, although next of kin have been informed.
Detective Inspector Ged Fitzpatrick of the Major Investigation Team said: “A major police investigation has been launched and I would like to reassure the community that all efforts are underway to trace the person responsible.
“We would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at or around this time to contact police.
“There will be a visible police presence in the area whilst we continue with enquiries into the incident.”
