Sofien Moussa’s punishment for his quickfire red card in Saturday’s 3-0 home drubbing by Ayr United in the Betfred Cup is relegation to the reserves.

The Tunisian lasted just 15 minutes after coming off the bench as the Dark Blues crashed out of the competition, picking up two yellow cards for persistent fouling.

Manager Neil McCann blasted the striker’s conduct and dropped him to Jimmy Boyle’s reserve side for their season opener against St Johnstone at Montrose.

Other first-teamers involved were goalkeeper Elliott Parish, Cammy Kerr and Glen Kamara.

The latter two were on the bench on Saturday with Kamara only recently returning to action after an ankle knock.

Moussa scored an equaliser for Dundee before making way, along with Glen Kamara, early in the second half.
