Stars of music, stage and screen will be visiting Dundee later this year for a school reunion, with one former pupil travelling from America for the event.
Morgan Academy will celebrate its 150th anniversary in September with a special reunion concert at the Caird Hall. Famous former pupils, including Charlotte Brimner – Be Charlotte – STV presenter Craig Millar and actor Hilton McRae will all be making an appearance.
Organisers are also hopeful that fellow alumnus Edwyn Collins – the lead singer of post-punk band Orange Juice – and Star Wars actor Ian McDiarmid will provide pre-recorded messages for the event.
Current pupils are taking part in a small event outside the school today to promote the reunion.
The show itself will take place on September 23, with tickets now on sale.
Frances Irons, one of the organisers, said: “We have one former pupil coming over in September from New York where she now lives.
“There are several other people coming from different parts of the country too, so it’s great to see them making the effort. Hilton McRae will be one special guest. He has been on stage, including playing Gary Glitter in a film about his criminal trial.
“We have Craig Millar hosting for us and Be Charlotte will be there as well.
“We are also inviting current and former pupils to take part in our choir and orchestra on the night and are hopeful some other people who can’t make it will provide a video message for us to play.”
Tomorrow’s free event at the school starts at 4pm, with the choir set to perform.

Tickets are now on sale from the Dundee City Box Office at a cost of £15 or £10 for pupils.
