Man’s injuries after alleged assault in Arbroath are ‘serious’, says police statement

Police have issued a statement after an assault on an Arbroath street today.

Arbroath road cordoned off, major police presence and man in hospital after ‘serious assault’

Police have cordoned off Sidney Street following an incident at 11.45am.

The statement said: “A man has been taken to hospital with a leg injury sustained in an alleged serious assault. His injury has been assessed as serious but non-life threatening.

“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry regarding the incident; however (they) would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information that could assist the investigation.

“There will be a police presence in the area for some time to allow full investigation of the circumstances, and Sidney Street is currently still closed off.

“If you have any information that could assist our enquiries, please call 101 or speak to any police officer. Information can be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 1259 of 23rd January.”

About seven police cars were reportedly spotted at the scene.
