A man falsely told police he had been the victim of an attack by an assailant with a gun.
Liam Gray told PC Louise Taylor that he had been attacked by an unknown man — then stated the perpetrator had been in possession of a firearm at the time.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Gray claimed the man had pointed the gun at him while “uttering threats”.
But the truth was no such attack had taken place.
Prosecutors say Gray’s lies forced cops into launching an investigation that “temporarily deprived the public of their services” and “rendered the lieges liable to suspicion and accusation of firearms offences”.
Gray, 19, of Bruce Street, Dundee, pleaded guilty on summary complaint to a charge of wasting police time committed on January 24 in Dundee’s Forth Crescent.
Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports.
