A man has been charged with alleged communications offences after a vigilante group turned up to a local home.

Police were called to Old Halkerton Road in Forfar around 7.45pm on Wednesday following a disturbance.

Nine police vehicles attended after members of the group remonstrated with people within a property on the street.

Witnesses said the group had arrived at the scene in SUVs with banners and placards.

Officers remained outside the house until around 6.30am tothe following day.

Today, a spokesman for Police Scotland said that a man is to appear in court in due course.

He said: “A 27-year-old man has been charged with online communications offences, and released to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court at a later date.”
