A man was found lying injured in a street following a serious assault involving baseball bats.
Police have launched an appeal following the incident in the area of Arbroath’s Brechin Road.
The victim of the attack was discovered by members of the public on the street, but it’s not clear if the incident took place there or elsewhere.
The casualty sustained injuries to his head and body after being struck with the weapon.
At least two men are believed to have set upon him.
He was treated by paramedics but refused hospital treatment.
Appealing for witnesses, a spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Unfortunately we do not know much more than this, and although the victim was found in Brechin Road, we cannot be certain of exactly where the assault took place.
“We appreciate that this incident happened almost two weeks ago, but it is hoped that someone would have seen some part of this incident and can give us more detail about it.
“If you have any information which could assist our enquiry, please call 101 or speak to any Police officer. Information can also be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is CR/27133/17.”
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call on Tuesday October 17 to attend an incident on Brechin Road in Arbroath.
“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and treated one male patient in his twenties.”
