Bruce Laing, 54, of Almond Place, admitted driving at 65mph on the 40mph A92 Arbroath to Dundee road at Panmurefield and East Balgillo Road on January 14.
He was fined £200.
Meanwhile, Derek Beattie, 45, of Fairbairn Street, had sentence deferred until March 29 on a shoplifting charge.
Beattie admitted that he stole alcohol at Lidl, in Dura Street, on December 2 last year.
