A man appeared in court today accused of assaulting a 14-month-old baby “to the danger of their life”.
Thomas Dunn is alleged to have attacked the child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at an address in Arbroath last Monday, January 8.
The child is understood to have suffered a significant head injury and was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where the child remains for treatment.
Today Dunn appeared in private on petition at Forfar Sheriff Court facing charges of assault and assault to injury and danger of life.
He made no plea during the brief hearing and the case was continued for further examination.
Dunn was released on bail pending further court dates being set.
A spokesman for Police Scotland’s Tayside Division said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 24-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with an investigation into injuries sustained by a 14-month-old child in Arbroath.”
