Man charged after crash involving car and minibus near The Open

A man has been charged with careless driving following a crash involving a car and a minibus near Carnoustie as The Open teed off.

A small grass fire on the edge of the town also required firefighters to bring it under control.

The collision took place on the Monifieth to Mains of Ardestie road, near the A92 Arbroath to Dundee route, at 9am Thursday.

A police spokeswoman said there were no serious injuries and confirmed the charge.

She said: “Police Scotland attended a road traffic incident involving a car and minibus on the B962.”

The grass fire took place at nearby Ravensby Park Gardens, on the outskirts of the town, in the morning.
