A taxi customer who failed to pay for his ride from Perth to Dundee has been jailed by Sheriff George Way.
James Muir, 22, of no fixed abode, admitted taking the hire of a taxi from Neil Mathieson from North Muirton Road to the Shell Garage in Ward Road on June 24 without paying and intending not to pay the fare of £55, while he was on bail.
He also admitted that at the Shell Garage in Ward Road and while in a police vehicle during the course of a journey between there and police HQ in Bell Street, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouted, swore and uttered threats of violence towards police officers and their families on the same date, also while on bail.
Muir further admitted that having been subject to the bail condition that he does not enter Scotland unless for court, social work appointments or to meet his solicitor, he entered Scotland without a reasonable excuse on the same date.
Sheriff Way jailed him for a total of eight months.
