
Police have launched a witness appeal after a man was assaulted in an early hours attack in the city centre
A man was allegedly involved in a fight with a group of youths in Albert Square – across from the bus stops – at around 2.50am on Saturday.
The man sustained a serious leg injury according to cops and although the incident was captured on CCTV, there were a number of people in the area making their way home after nights out who they would like to speak to.
The victim has been described as 5 foot 8 inches tall and is of slim build.
He was wearing a black jacket, navy blue polo shirt, dark blue jeans and royal blue Nike trainers.
The group of three men were in their late teens. All were wearing all black clothing and one of them was wearing a baseball cap.
A police spokesperson said: “If anyone has any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any officer.
“Information can be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is CR/889/19.”
