Man arrested over ‘robbery attempt’ at local betting shop

Police have arrested a man following an “attempted armed robbery” at a local bookmakers.

Officers were initially called to the LoganBet ship on Brechin’s Clerk Street on Friday at about 3pm.

A man is alleged to have presented a knife to workers before fleeing the shop.

Police had initially appealed for information to trace a man wearing a Rangers FC scarf.

Today, officers confirmed a 47-year-old male has been arrested.

A spokesman for the force said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 47-year-old man was arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Brechin which occurred on Friday February 16.

“Inquiries are ongoing.”
