Man accused of raping woman in her Dundee home

Dundee Sheriff Court

A Dundee man has been accused of assaulting a woman before raping her in her own home.

Nineteen-year-old Khalem McGowan, of Ballindean Road, appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday before Sheriff Derek Reekie on a petition alleging assault and rape.

McGowan is alleged to have assaulted the woman by striking her on the head before removing her clothing and raping her at an address in Dundee on January 8, while on bail.

McGowan was represented in court by solicitor John Boyle.

He made no plea during his brief appearance before the sheriff and his application for bail was granted, with special conditions not to approach or contact or attempt to approach or contact the complainer, or enter the street where she lives.

Sheriff Reekie continued the case for further examination to a date expected to be later this year.
