
Police have confirmed that a man has died following a crash on the A9.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Blair Atholl after the incident at 7.45am.
The smash involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a lorry. A 43-year-old man was suffered fatal injuries.
Fire crews from Perth, Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Carmichael were dispatched to assist police.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear at the scene. After initially being alerted at 7.46am, the fire service was eventually stood down at 12.13pm.
The road was closed completely for most of the day and the northbound carriageway remains closed while investigations continue. Diversions have been put in place for motorists.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Next of kin have now been informed. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
