Man, 33, dies after collision on local road

A man has been confirmed dead after a collision on a local road.

He was taken to hospital following a road traffic accident on the A926 between Alyth and Blairgowrie on Friday January 19.

He died in hospital on Wednesday.

He has been formally identified as Gregory Edgar (33), from the Alyth area.

A police statement said: “Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“As with all deaths caused by road traffic collisions, a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The collision happened late morning, with the police describing it as a “serious accident”.

Scottish Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulances, a manager, the trauma team and a paramedic response unit to the scene.

The road was closed for several hours as police conducted investigations.

Two patients were taking to Ninewells Hospital.
