A main road was left closed after a van fire left Christmas presents ‘destroyed’.
The Parcel Force vehicle went up in flames in St Fort Road, Wormit, closing the road through the village.
Firefighters from Dundee rushed to the scene when the alarm was raised just after 2.10pm on Tuesday.
More than 20 parcels, believed to be Christmas presents, were left sprawled across the road with one witness claiming the packages had been “damaged”.
The road was cordoned off as firefighters extinguished the flames, and traffic diverted.
Witness Gordon Douglas told the Tele: “I arrive just as a police car was leaving. There was a single fire engine and the fire was put out but there was still dripping plastic on fire.
“The driver was standing with a police officer and he looked shocked.
“There were about 20 or so parcels of different sizes all wrapped up. At this time of the year you would assume they would be Christmas presents.
“If nothing else, there would be water damaged caused to the presents.”
Stagecoach East Scotland said one of its buses, the 77 from Dundee to Gauldry, was stuck at the scene and others were affected.
The 77 Dundee from Gauldry at 14:05 is currently stuck in Wormit due to a van on fire. Apologies. Will update ASAP.

The number 42 service at 2.31pm from Dundee to Tayport and 2.58pm from Tayport to Dundee were cancelled as they relied on the same vehicle.
The number 77 from Dundee to Gauldry at 2.40pm did not serve Wormit and Woodhaven and was diverted via the Forgan and Five Roads roundabouts.
