Over the weekend, Co-op stores handed out £19 million to charities across the UK – and benefiting from some of the cash are Barnhill Afterschool care club and High 5 Club Monifieth.
Funds raised through Co-ops in Monifieth, Barnhill, Panmuirfield and Claypotts raised £15,347.30.
The money was raised through members who have a membership card which gives 1% back to their local community when purchasing Co-op branded products, as well as the 5p bag cost.
Co-ops across the UK hosted a ‘celebration day’ on Saturday to thank the customers for their support and to hand over the cheques to the chosen charities.
Kirsty Donoghue, store manager for Co-op Monifieth said: “It just makes a massive difference to these local groups.
“It is so nice to give back to the community and see so many people benefit from it. It is good to see all the outcomes because of it.”
