Arbroath Community Council has received a Lottery grant of £7,750 towards the cost of the town’s Christmas lights.
The group aims to raise £12,000 for this year’s festive display after Angus Council said it would no longer be able to bankroll the lights.
The latest boost is from the National Lottery’s Awards for All (Scotland) fund.
The lights will be put up in the High Street and West Port.
Fundraising will continue to raise money for the installation, insurance and a switch-on event.
A recent bag-packing event at Tesco and Morrisons raised £1,239 towards the total.
