Local antibiotics team gets ready to rock in bid to raise awareness

NHS Tayside’s antimicrobial management team (AMT) has joined forces with some “rocking” community projects to raise antibiotic awareness.

The team is working with @CarnoustieRocks, @Angus Rocks! Paint, Hide & Find!, @BroughtyFerry Rocks and other local groups to promote antibiotic awareness messages using rocks.

Rock painting involves hiding specially painted rocks in and around public spaces across Tayside for others to find. The project aims to promote a fun, healthy and cost-effective activity which the whole family can enjoy.

To support the World Health Organisation’s Antibiotic Awareness Week, which runs until next Monday, and European Antibiotic Awareness Day on November 18, people around Tayside have created some bright and colourful “antibiotic resistant bug” themed rocks.

The special rocks, which also have antibiotic awareness messages painted on them, will be hidden throughout Tayside during Antibiotic Awareness Week.
