Dundee fan Charlie Adam looks set for a move away from Stoke City.
New Potters boss Gary Rowett previously told the 32-year-old he was free to leave the club.
The Dundonian has another year on his deal at bet365 Stadium but Bolton have been linked with a move for the Scotland midfielder.
Wanderers are believed to be eyeing up a loan deal from their Championship rivals.
Fintry-born Adam has not appeared once this season for Stoke and only made five Premier League starts last season.
According to reports, Rangers had thought about resigning their former man while Aston Villa also pondered a move but Bolton are now said to be the favourites to complete a deal.
Adam, who was signed for £4m from Liverpool in 2012, has become a vocal critic of his Stoke side with digs at new Red Xherdan Shaqiri and former boss Paul Lambert.
The life-long dark blue, who has made more than 160 appearances for Stoke, has played twice for Dundee in testimonial games and hasn’t ruled out joining The Dee in the future.
“That’s me done it twice. You never know what will happen in the future,” he said previously.
