A new website for people considering fostering or adoption in Dundee has been launched by the city’s only same-sex fostering couple.
The new website will allow people to meet the fostering resource team, and find out more about the application process and the types of fostering available to people.
Laurie Matthew OBE, and her partner Sandra McCourt, have been together for 20 years and have been fostering since the law changed allowing same sex couples to foster.
Laurie said: “There has clearly been a lot of work and thought gone into the website. I hope it does its job.”
She added: “Fostering is such a great thing. We just want to see more people do it. I just want to urge LGBT people to come forward. The community has got so much to offer.”
Dawn Millar, from the fostering resource team, said: “We are excited to share our new website, which launched on Tuesday, where you can meet the teams, find out more about the application process and keep up to date with what is going on in Dundee to promote fostering and adoption.
“If you would like more information on adopting in Dundee or becoming a Dundee City Council foster carer please log onto our new website, DundeeFosterAdopt.co.uk or call 01382 436060 to talk to one of the team.”
