The launch date for a new tourist-friendly bus route around the city centre has been revealed.
Xplore’s new 360 “city circle” route will see a new electric bus added to the fleet to transport passengers from the V&A museum and Dundee train station to other city centre tourist attractions including Dundee Science Centre, Verdant Works, The McManus and the Olympia.
It will also provide a loop between the top end of the city centre and the Waterfront, serving city hotels and the bus station along the way. Xplore has now announced the new service will start on Monday September 17 – two days after the official opening of the V&A.
Christine McGlasson, managing director of Xplore Dundee, said: “Dundee is already the electric vehicle capital of the UK. Now Xplore Dundee is investing in the city’s first-ever all-electric bus.
“Visitors coming to Dundee for the first time will step out of the train station to see a brand new, quiet, emissions-free vehicle ready to take them around town.
“And for Dundonians, the new City Circle service 360 will provide a better-connected city by opening up the waterfront and linking the bus and train stations.
“We believe this will be a real boost for the city centre and the final piece of the puzzle for the Waterfront, helping visitors to navigate the city and to connect all of the new attractions in that area with the rest of the city centre.”
