Primary seven pupils at a Dundee school will benefit thanks to a four-figure donation from a leading construction company.
St Pius Primary, in Banchory Road, Douglas, successfully applied to housebuilding firm Persimmon Homes North Scotland for the second time under its community champions project.
The company chose the school as one of the lucky groups selected each month to receive a match-funding donation of £1,000.
St Pius applied for the funding to support families who would otherwise not be able to cover the cost of the P7 residential weekend that marks the end of primary school for many pupils.
Kimberly Keenan, a school and family development worker at St Pius, said: “We are delighted to be selected to receive funding for the second time and can’t thank Persimmon enough for its support.”
Iain Innes, managing director of Persimmon Homes North Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be able to help St Pius Primary for a second time.
“It is clearly an invaluable project if it helps the children transition from primary-level schooling on to the challenges of their forthcoming academic life.”
