Defender Josh Meekings is set to extend his stay at Dundee beyond the end of the season.
The 25-year-old signed up at Dens Park near the end of August on a one-year deal, but an injury from his time at Inverness Caley Thistle meant he didn’t make his debut until mid-October.
Since then, though, he has impressed at the heart of the defence and it’s understood that’s prompted boss Neil McCann to open talks over a longer-term deal.
With several clubs sniffing around his central defensive partner Jack Hendry, tying Meekings up on a new deal makes sense.
He did miss last weekend’s victory at St Johnstone because of the injury he suffered in the Boxing Day collision that left Celtic’s Johnny Hayes with a broken leg.
Meekings is, though, expected to be fit for the visit of former employers Inverness to Dens in the Scottish Cup a fortnight on Saturday.
