Here’s why the press were gathered outside Dens Park this afternoon

The players' entrance at Dens Park. The gathered press were asked to wait outside.

Rumours swept Dundee over lunchtime of a crisis at Dens Park after fans spotted a sizeable gathering of media and press outside the front door.

The Tele, though, can confirm those waiting were simply present ahead of the scheduled pre-match press conference for tomorrow’s Premiership clash with Rangers.

The gathered media had been told to wait outside by Neil McCann until he and his players finished practising set pieces.

A number of fans were seen to drive past the ground with interest at the pack surrounding the main door.

Some speculated a signing was due to be announced or that things had taken a dramatic turn within the Dark Blues.

The press conference was due to start at 12.30pm, however reporters were told to wait outside the ground until McCann had concluded his session.
