A hearing will take place this week ahead of a fatal accident inquiry into the death of a Dundee boxer.
“Iron” Mike Towell died on September 30 2016 – just 24 hours after he had suffered a serious head injury in a British welterweight fight against Welshman Dale Evans.
A fatal accident inquiry is due to take place into Mike’s death, aiming to establish the circumstances which led to the tragedy.
A preliminary hearing will be held at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, to determine whether or not legal representatives are ready to proceed with the inquiry.
Mike, 25, who represented St Andrew’s Sporting Club, was knocked out in the fifth round of his bout at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow. He was rushed to hospital and placed on a ventilator, but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
A fundraiser to help his family raised more than £20,000.
