Guide Dogs charity appealing for Dundee folk to look after puppies

Charity Guide Dogs Scotland has launched a fresh appeal to find volunteers who can look after a guide dog puppy full-time for a year.

Puppy walkers care for the future guide dogs from seven weeks of age until they are between 12 and 15 months old.

Those interested in volunteering are invited to attend an event at the Guide Dog Training School in Forfar on Friday, from 9.30am-noon.

Volunteer co-ordinator Shonagh Hodgson said: “While we have successfully recruited volunteers already this year, we are still on the lookout for more amazing people in Dundee who can raise our puppies until they are old enough to join Guide Dog Training School.

“Puppy walkers play an essential role within Guide Dogs, giving our pups a vital foundation for their future roles guiding someone with sight loss.”
