A children’s charity has checked out of a Dundee supermarket with hundreds of pounds thanks to its customers.
The Archie Foundation received a cheque for £500 from Asda West Dundee after customers voted for the charity in its green token scheme.
Shoppers are given the green coins after paying for their groceries and can choose which local cause they want to receive the highest sum of money.
All shortlisted charities receive a cheque of £500, £250 or £200 on behalf of the Asda Foundation after the final tally is counted.
The Asda store community champion Janie Cochrane (pictured above, with Scott Lorimer of Archie) was on hand to present the cheque to the foundation.
Sarah Johnston, fundraising manager for the Archie Foundation, welcomed the donation.
She said: “Thank you to the Asda West Dundee customers for choosing the Archie Foundation.
“This donation is greatly appreciated and will directly benefit the Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal.”
