The future of a bus service in Dundee has been resolved, with the route continuing in a revised format from August, according to a local councillor.
The 204/204a route targeted streets not served by other bus routes from the West End to Ninewells Hospital, such as Magdalene Yard Road and Invergowrie Drive, among others.
But there were issues with the “split” service, which meant that it often ran only every two hours and encountered problems on the roads..
From August 15, the 204 route will continue but will be operated by Stagecoach as opposed to Xplore.
Councillor Fraser Macpherson said: “The subsidised bus services are very important. We had problems on the routes, as some of the roads were too narrow and meant the buses were being blocked off.”
“There will now be a single route and we are hoping this will build greater use of the service.”
Stagecoach was approached for comment but had not replied before the time of going to press.
