Fundraising night at the Oscars for local autism charity

A Tayside woman has organised a fundraising event for a local autism charity.

Karen McFadden, 20, is running an event called “Night at the Oscars” in her native Perth on Saturday.

All money raised will go towards Perth Autism Support (PAS), a support service her sister, Kerri, 10, uses.

Karen, a full-time carer, has received raffle and auction prizes including a signed St Johnstone FC strip for the event at Forty Four Bar and Late Lounge.

PAS — a charity which offers activities for children with the condition — was facing closure in August due to a shortage of funds.

Perth and Kinross Council and NHS Tayside both provided payments of £15,000 to allow the organisation “breathing space” as it looks for alternative funding.

Karen said the owners of the pub had kindly offered her the use of the function suite for free with the event being sponsored by the Crunch Munch restaurant in South Street, Perth.
