Four men who came to the aid of a man found injured in a Dundee street have come forward after a police appeal.

The men, believed to be Eastern European, came across John Ogston on Mains Road afgter he had been run over around 11pm on New Year’s Day.

The 67-year-old was helped back to a nearby house by the four men but later died in hospital.

Officers released CCTV images in a bid to trace the men they believed were “key witnesses”.

It’s now hoped the men will be able to shed more light on the tragic events which led to John’s death.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “The four men who helped John after he was injured and were shown in CCTV images we released on January 9 have been identified as a result of the response from the public.

“They have now came forward and are helping us with our inquiries.

“We would like to continue to appeal for anyone else who was in the area at the time, between about 10.55pm and 11.15pm on New Year’s Day, to contact us. Even the smallest detail or piece of information could be vitally important.”
