Former Dundee defender Steven Caulker is hoping to win a deal with Wigan Athletic just weeks after triggering a release clause at Dens.
The 26-year-old still had a year left on his contract with the Dark Blues when he left on deadline day.
It came just four months after the club had reportedly rejected a seven-figure offer from Rosenborg for the former England international.
Caulker was a marquee signing for Neil McCann when he penned an 18-month contract with Dundee in January.
Now he is training with Championship side Wigan ahead of a potential deal.
Latics boss Paul Cook will run the rule over Caulker before deciding if he’s worth having on board.
Aston Villa are also looking for a central defender and have been linked with the big centre-half, who earlier this month was reportedly training with Ukrainian Premier League Arsenal Kiev, managed by Fabrizio Ravanelli.
