Celtic and Scotland footballer Leigh Griffiths appeared in court in Dundee yesterday charged with speeding on the Kingsway in his luxury Mercedes car.
The former Dundee FC star, 27, pleaded not guilty to the charge and will now have to appear at the city’s Justice of the Peace court on February 26.
The Celtic star, who is currently out injured, has been accused by prosecutors of driving at 62mph in a 50mph zone on the A90 Kingsway West at Myrekirk Road on June 3 last year.
Griffiths — who is listed as living at an address in East Lothian — has denied the allegation that he was speeding whilst at the wheel of a four-litre, 469 horsepower, Mercedes AMG C63.
Fiscal depute Laura Bruce said the Crown was also fully prepared for trial and the case was continued to the trial diet previously set for February 26.
Griffith was once more ordained to appear then.
