Fire crews called to Strathmartine Hospital site after reports of blaze

Firefighters in Dundee have been called to a derelict hospital after a blaze was reported.

Crews were dispatched to Strathmartine Hospital at 2.30pm.

It’s not yet clear where in the site the fire has taken hold.

Three fire engines were called to the scene.

A spokesman for the fire service confirmed crews from Macalpine Road and Bleckness stations were at the scene.

The Strathmartine Hospital campaign group took to social media to raise the alarm, pointing blame at school kids with it being the October holidays.

The cause of the fire has not been established.
