A man who admitted a charge of “hamesucken” — assaulting someone in their own home — was fined £400 by Sheriff Lorna Drummond.

Alasdair Cunningham, 27, of Hilltown, admitted that on November 12, he broke into a house at Arklay Terrace, sought out and assaulted Jonathon Sloss and punched him repeatedly on the head and body.

The court heard that Mr Sloss was Cunningham’s ex- girlfriend’s new partner.
