Farmfoods has lodged a planning application for a new store in Dundee.
The budget food retailer wants to build a shop at the car park of the Eclipse Leisure Park, Douglas Road, close to the Odeon cinema.
The store is expected to create between 12 and 15 full and part-time jobs, and a full application has now been lodged with Dundee City Council.
A report submitted with the plans said the development would provide a “modest contribution” to addressing retail “deficiencies” in the area.
It added: “The development would increase consumer choice and competition and would support social inclusion by providing high-quality goods at affordable prices which will be a particular benefit for those on lower incomes.”
Developers also insist that the project would not impact on nearby “district centres” like Broughty Ferry or Albert Street.
If it goes ahead, it would join pizza chain Domino’s in taking up a vacant site at the leisure park.
