Children heading for school were in for an unexpected surprise this morning.
A snake was found on Beech Grove outside the grounds of Timmergreen Primary in Arbroath just before 9am.
A staff member said that pupils who happened to come across the corn snake were ‘excited’ at the find, with youngsters gathering around to have a look.

It’s understood the school’s janitor quickly came to the rescue and caught the reptile before taking it to the school’s plant room to heat up.
The SSPCA were called and officers are now looking to track down the snake’s owner.
Exactly where the snake came from is not yet clear, although it’s likely to have escaped from a nearby home.
