Event in Dundee to celebrate idea of Scottish independence

Douglas Community Centre on election day

An event has been planned in the Douglas area of Dundee to celebrate the idea of Scottish independence.

Locals are invited to attend Douglas Community Centre on Sunday October 22 for Imagine Indy, which organisers say is a “cultural and community” shindig.

Jane Douglas, of the Dundee and Angus Independence Group, said the event will provide fun for all the family and also be a chance for locals to reminisce about the area’s history.

She said: “This is going to be a cultural and community event for Douglas.

“The event will celebrate the idea of Scottish independence.

“A fun day out for young and old, there will be music with a pipe band and singing by Sheena Wellington, story telling, face painting, a free cafe, and much more.

“We want to hear your memories of Douglas — and get you thinking about what you would like for Douglas in the future.”

The event will run from 1pm to 3pm.
