Eight local homes evacuated after garage goes ablaze with gas canisters inside

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a domestic garage which led to 12 people being evacuated.

Three fire engines went to the scene in the Feus area of Auchterarder at around 2.50am on Sunday.

Eight homes were evacuated after gas cylinders were reported to be in the premises.

Fire crews had put out the blaze by 8.22am.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “Three fire appliances were deployed to the scene where a fire had taken hold in a single-storey domestic garage containing a number of gas cylinders.

“Residents from eight nearby homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

“There were no casualties and crews extinguished the fire and left the scene at 8.22am.”
