Rail services on the Dundee line been called off following reports of a person being hit by a train.
ScotRail said its journeys have been disrupted following the incident between Aberdeen and Montrose, which took place at about 3.50pm.
Services to Edinburgh and Glasgow have been affected, with trains to Aberdeen from the central belt will terminate in Dundee.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “We got the call at 3.50pm to reports of a person being struck by a train. We are still in the process of attending alongside the ambulance services.”
ScotRail said: “Due to a person being hit by a train between Aberdeen and Montrose disruption is expected until 8pm.
“Train services between Aberdeen and Montrose will be suspended.
“We are working closely with the emergency services. Check back here for further updates.”
