Faissal El Bakhtaoui is on Dundee boss Paul Hartley’s radar.
The Dunfermline frontman is set to leave East End Park this month, having not been offered new terms by the League One champions.
And the Dark Blues have joined the queue of clubs vying to land the 23-year-old Frenchman.
El Bakhtaoui netted 30 goals in 44 appearances last season, and Paul knows first-hand just how good the forward can be.
The in-demand frontman, who is of Moroccan descent, netted a brace in last August’s shock 3-1 League Cup defeat to the Pars.
But Dundee are not alone in being alerted to the frontman’s talents.
Aberdeen, Motherwell, Fleetwood Town and Hibs have all been credited with an interest.
’Well have put a concrete offer on the table to El Bakhtaoui but the Dons’ interest seems to have cooled somewhat after they completed the signing of ex-Inverness hitman Miles Storey and Bournemouth’s Jayden Stockley while they are believed to be chasing ex-Kilmarnock striker Connor Sammon.
When quizzed about his future recently, El Bakhtaoui said: “I know there is a lot of speculation about me.
“Some clubs are interested but nothing has happened yet.
“Dunfermline have not offered me a new contract but I have been talking to my agent about a new deal and stuff like that.
“I will meet my agent when the season is finished and we will take things from there.
“I feel I’m ready to play in the big division in Scotland.
“The Premiership matches attract great crowds and the fans are good. I believe I could play at that level.”
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Dark Blues forward Greg Stewart has rejected an offer of a contract extension.
Stewart is entering the final year of his deal at Dens Park and, given his outstanding contribution to Dundee over the last two seasons, the club are keen to get him tied down.
But it appears as if the forward, nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award two years on the bounce, has decided to knock back the terms.
This leaves Dundee facing a dilemma — sell now or risk losing their star man for nothing next summer.
As revealed in the Tele, the latest club to throw their hat in the ring to land Stewart is Leeds United.
Rangers and Aberdeen are also understood to be interested.
