A pensioner is looking forward to a family break, after scooping £500 in the Evening Telegraph’s redesign competition.
To mark the launch of the new-look Tele last week, the editor put up a bumper cash prize to give away to one lucky reader.
All readers had to do was text, phone or post their details in to us to be entered into the draw.
We received nearly 400 entries before the competition closed on Thursday, when one hopeful was selected at random.
The winner was Maureen Gallozzi, from Kirkton, a loyal Tele reader who said she enters all the competitions run by the paper.
She celebrated her windfall at home with her family, including her five great-grandchildren.
Responding to the good news, Maureen said: “I can’t believe I have won. That’s marvellevous news.
“I do these competitions all the time. I have been doing them for years.
“I used to do them over the phone before you could enter through text.
“It has been a long time since I have actually won anything so this is a very good day.
“The last time I won a weekend break to Crieff Hydro, but that was a few years ago.”
Maureen added: “I get the Tele delivered to the house and like to enter all the competitions.”
Maureen said she was considering taking a holiday for the first time since a major heart operation.
She plans to travel with her two daughters, Gail and Maureen, along with her sister and niece.
“I haven’t had a holiday since I had a triple bypass in Aberdeen two years ago,” she said.
“We all went to Loch Lomond before and that was lovely. We had a really nice time.
“So maybe we’ll go back there, or maybe we’ll try Loch Ness – we will need to get the kilts out!”
Don’t worry if you missed out on this cash prize – there’s still a chance to win big with the Tele with the launch of our £10,000 Golden Wallet giveaway.
The countdown begins today. See page 11 for details.
