Dundee winger Andy Dales is hoping to hit the ground running after checking in at Dens Park on loan from Scunthorpe United.
The 24-year-old former Derby County youth academy product has joined up with the Dark Blues until the end of the season and goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s Scottish Cup fourth-round visit of Queen of the South.
It was a deal that was agreed quickly, so much so, the England C international had to race north on Monday morning to complete the move.
He has been in training with Jim McIntyre’s men since and is hoping to make his debut at Dens this weekend.
“It’s been really good, I had a little chat with the gaffer on Tuesday morning and have had some intense training sessions so I’m really looking forward to it,” said Dales.
“I only found out on Monday morning. The gaffer at Scunthorpe pulled me in and just said that there’s an opportunity to go to Dundee for the rest of the season on loan.
“And I thought, I want to get as many games under my belt and it’s a great club.
“I travelled up on Monday night, which took five-and-a-half hours, so I was a bit stiff on Tuesday morning but when I got into it I really enjoyed it.
“The boys have been brilliant, I’ve got to know a few of them already and hopefully a few more before Saturday and they seem like a really good bunch so far.”
The cup-tie with Championship Queens could also see the debut of former Ross County and Dundee United striker Craig Curran following his move across Tannadice Street.
Meanwhile, former Dee defender Steven Caulker has finally found a new club.
The England international centre-back, who left Dundee abruptly at the end of the summer transfer window in August, has signed for Turkish top-tier side Alanyaspor on a deal until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old former Liverpool and Tottenham man had been without a club since leaving the Dee, for whom he made 17 appearances, scoring once.
