Dundee United working to beat transfer deadline with Danny Swanson linked to Tannadice

Dundee United are still trying to add to their squad before tonight’s transfer deadline.

Last week manager Csaba Laszlo admitted he had the names of three potential targets on a list and was open to adding others to it.

It’s understood since the weekend United have been working on bringing in a specific player, though there has been no indication yet as to the chance of a deal being completed.

The Tangerines have also managed the keep the identity of the man they want a secret.

Former fans favourite Danny Swanson has been linked. He appears to be on his way out of Hibs after just a few months there, but it’s understood he would prefer to stay in the Premiership or move south.

Meanwhile, United’s home clash with Championship leaders St Mirren has been moved to the evening of Friday, March 2 and will be shown live on BT Sport, as was their 2-0 defeat at the Buddies at the end of last month.

Still to be confirmed is when the outstanding game against Queen of the South will be played.

The original game back on December 16 was abandoned at half-time because of slippery conditions and as yet no new date has been fixed.

An alternative date will also have to be found for the home clash with Dumbarton. Originally scheduled for February 17, it won’t go ahead then because of the Sons’ Irn-Bru Cup semi-final against TNS that evening.

Those and other changes to the schedule mean after this weekend’s trip to Inverness, United will not have another Saturday afternoon kick off until they travel to Brechin on March 10.
