Dundee United have targeted Celtic forward Jack Aitchison to help fire them back to the Premiership.
The Scotland U/19 international became the Parkhead club’s youngest ever scorer in May 2016 after scoring against Motherwell in a 7-0 rout.
He didn’t feature at all last season, however, and needs games at first-team level to continue his development.
His last first-team appearance came way back in April 2017 as a replacement for Callum McGregor.
Now 18, Aitchison signed a three-year deal at the age of 16 and still has another season to run.
The Tangerines took right-back Anthony Ralston on loan from the Hoops last season to some success and it’s likely the move for Aitchison would be a similar deal.
After a flurry of activity at the end of the last season, the Tangerines haven’t made a signing in almost two weeks and with plenty of squad spaces to fill it’s expected their transfer business will kick in again shortly with players beginning to return from close season breaks.
Meanwhile, Scott Fraser could be on his way down south.
Fraser announced his departure from Tannadice on May 22 and his next destination is yet to be revealed.
It was expected he would join former United boss Craig Levein at Hearts but interest from south of the border may change that.
In January, Wigan showed interest in his talents.
They’ll be playing in the English Championship next campaign after promotion but League One is a more likely destination for Fraser.
Peterborough boss Steve Evans has already raided the Scottish Premiership for talent this summer with Dundee’s Mark O’Hara and Ross County’s Jason Naismith heading to London Road.
After showing interest in the job at Tannadice before Csaba Laszlo arrived, Evans has kept an eye on things up here and is weighing up a move for Fraser.
Blackpool and Burton Albion are also in the frame.
