Dundee United look set to successfully complete their swoop for St Mirren attacker Cammy Smith.
Tangerines boss Robbie Neilson has been reluctant to discuss moves for players at other clubs but is known to have been chasing the former Aberdeen man.
And it now looks like Smith could be back on board at Tannadice – he previously had a loan spell there in 2016 – in time for Saturday’s home clash with Dunfermline.
Buddies boss Oran Kearney is understood to have been willing to let the 23-year-old leave earlier this week but the deal was delayed because the Paisley board needed to rubber stamp his exit.
Smith won the Championship with the Buddies last season and has scored 17 goals in 84 appearances for the Renfrewshire men since signing in January 2017.
