Dundee United have lodged plans for a new sports bar across from Tannadice – and hope to share it with their arch rivals.
The club is hoping to convert a storage unit adjacent to the stadium into a new hospitality section for fans, subject to approval by Dundee City Council planning chiefs.
If successful, Arabs will be able to make use of the venue as part of a hospitality package during United games.
Dundee FC fans would also be able to benefit from the venue for a similar experience.
The venue would serve as a hospitality suite and sports bar for supporters of both clubs, with hopes it will be booked for private events, conferences and weddings outwith games.
Lunches and dinners will be offered to supporters who will then be able to walk over to the stadium for the game.
It is proposed that the venue will open flexibly between 8am and 2am but will not act as a bar outwith football games or private events.
The application from Mark Walker Architects said: “The current application seeks approval for conversion of an existing storage unit adjacent to Dundee United Football Club’s Tannadice Stadium into a hospitality venue.
“On match days, the mezzanine area will serve as a hospitality dining area for seated lunches/dinners to compliment the existing hospitality facilities within Tannadice football stadium.
“It is also proposed that Dundee FC make use of the facilities for a hospitality service when playing at home. Again, the close proximity to Dens Park makes this an excellent location for such a facility.
“Opening hours and days will vary dependent on factors such as match day timings, screening of sporting events and function suite bookings.
“It is not anticipated that the bar will open as a public house outwith these occasions/bookings.”
