Dundee United’s game at Brechin this afternoon was called off less than 90 minutes before kick off because of a waterlogged pitch.
It means the Tangerines, who already have several outstanding fixtures to complete, are set to play twice a week for the remainder of the season.
Heavy rain from late morning meant just as United were arriving at Glebe Park it was clear there was a major problem with the surface.
Before even heading for the dressing room area gaffer Csaba Laszlo stepped onto the surface and immediately shook his head.
And minutes later referee Barry Cook confirmed the bad news after the briefest of pitch inspections.
With puddles visible from the stands it was clear there was no way the game could go ahead.
That was despite the best efforts of the ground staff at Brechin. They had checked the surface in the morning and it was fine.
With the rain that swept in much heavier than forecast, there was nothing they could do to clear the surface water from a pitch that was already heavy after recent heavy snow.
