Rail services in and out of Dundee could be cancelled after a person was hit by a train.
The incident is believed to have happened in Cupar, Fife.
The condition of the casualty is not yet known.
A British transport Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 9.35am to Cupar Station following reports of a person being struck by a train.
“We are in attendance along with the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
Trains on the east coast line from Edinburgh to Aberdeen look to be disrupted for the foreseeable future.
Services from the capital to Aberdeen will be diverted via Perth, while services from Dundee to Edinburgh will be cancelled.
